Salad Bar and Hot Lunch- Healthy Eating Program

LTNC volunteers prepare delicious fresh community garden and local veggies on Tuesdays from 1-3pm in the kitchen at Lake Trail School. Then on Wednesdays at lunchtime from 12:00-12:35 serve a buffet of free, fresh salad bar to the kids and staff at Lake Trail School. If you are interested in volunteering your time to help this wonderful group feed the kids. Please contact for more information on volunteering.

On Tuesdays a Hot Lunch is prepared by a LUSH member and supported by LTNC to assist in creating a strong connection with our Farm 2 School program. Students can try a delicious and nutritious hot home style meal each week. Food is procured from local providers like Grains Bakery, Sieffert’s Farm, The Butchers Block and more. What better way to fill your bellies with teen favourites like Macaroni and Cheese and Burrito’s that are jam packed with local vegetables?!

Community Dinners

Our Community dinners feature local seasonal produce,  from our own garden whenever possible.  Join our volunteers for a “cook-together” to provide the  scratch- made foundations of our feast.   Please feel free to bring yourself, your family, a game , a story or an an activity to share after-dinner.  Potluck items are welcome, but not necessary.  If you do bring something, please bring the recipe/key ingredients to help identify ingredients  in case of any food allergies. Our dinners offer a free, fun, family event each month held at Lake Trail School 805 Willemar Ave. in Courtenay.
